Right now, 1.7 billion people are affected by Neglected Tropical Diseases worldwide.
That means that 1 in 5 people on earth struggle with Neglected Tropical Diseases like leprosy. These diseases cause disabilities and create a cycle of extreme poverty. Together, we can restore health and restore lives.
Who We Are
Effect Hope is the only Canadian Christian global health organization exclusively focused on serving the people affected by Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). Together with partners, we deliver programs that address wellness in a holistic way. This includes physical and mental health, social wellbeing, and breaking cycles of poverty. We serve people from all walks of life.
What We Do
We partner with other global health organizations, local governments, and community leaders to prevent diseases and strengthen healthcare systems across Africa and Asia. Together, we provide resources and develop impactful programs, that help people overcome the effects of disease, disability, and discrimination.
Why We Do It
1.7 billion people are affected by NTDs – that’s 1 in 5 people worldwide. We believe that everyone deserves good health and a life of dignity. That’s why we have been serving people affected by Neglected Tropical Diseases for more than 130 years. We support health and wellness for the people we serve while respecting their desire for independence and self-sufficiency.
People screened for NTDs to find diseases early for timely treatments to help prevent disabilities.
Surgeries and medical treatments provided to improve health and abilities.
People gained awareness about neglected diseases like leprosy, to reduce stigma and promote social justice.
We want to see people overcome Neglected Tropical Diseases like leprosy.
We put people at the center of everything we do. Together with our partners and donors, we have the resources and technology to improve the quality of life for the people we serve. Since 1892, we have been coming alongside people affected by Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) like leprosy. We are dedicated to supporting people as they overcome disease, disability, and discrimination.
Working Towards A Leprosy Free Bangladesh
Too many people are living with the devastating consequences of leprosy because they cannot access health care. Together, with our partners and the Government of Bangladesh, we are on a mission to see zero leprosy transmission, zero disability and zero social consequences due to leprosy through stronger, inclusive health systems.
