Our Mission and Impact
Effect Hope has been dedicated to serving those affected by NTDs since 1892. We currently operate 20 strategic programs in 8 countries, partnering with local governments, global health organizations, and community leaders to deliver impactful programs.
Why We Stand Out
Charity Intelligence Canada has recognized Effect Hope for our high demonstrated impact, financial transparency, and effective use of donations. Here are some key highlights from the report:
- High Demonstrated Impact: Effect Hope has been rated highly for the social impact we achieve per dollar spent. Our programs are designed to address not only the physical health of individuals but also their social connections, ability to earn a living, and mental well-being. This holistic approach ensures full restoration and reintegration into the community.
- Financial Transparency: We maintain audited financial statements for current and previous years on our website, ensuring transparency and accountability to our donors and stakeholders.
- Effective Use of Donations: For every dollar donated, 85 cents go directly to our programs, which is within Charity Intelligence’s reasonable range. This means that your contributions are making a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.
Our Programs and Achievements
In 2023, Effect Hope made remarkable strides in our mission to combat NTDs:
- Find: We screened over one million people through our ASPIRE project in India, diagnosing thousands with leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, and scabies. We also trained 4,520 healthcare professionals to recognize and treat NTDs.
- Treat: Our efforts led to 607 surgeries to restore mobility and treatment for over 21,000 newly diagnosed individuals. Additionally, 2,120,492 people received treatment through Mass Drug Administration.
- Care: We provided customized protective footwear, self-care training, and mental health support to thousands of individuals. In 2023 alone, 4,801 pairs of footwear were distributed, and 464 people received mental health counseling.
- Empower: We trained 980 outreach workers to spread awareness about NTD symptoms and treatments, reaching nearly two million people through our education activities. Furthermore, 2,862 individuals received skills training, and 254 people were supported in starting small businesses.
