A Letter From Our CEO Kim Evans

“I am excited to share that Effect Hope has signed and endorsed the Kigali Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases. This is a global political declaration that makes a bold call for the world to unite to end neglected tropical diseases.

I’m excited to share this important moment with you. Signing this Declaration signifies our commitment to a global goal of ending neglected tropical diseases. It is possible within our lifetime – now is the moment for us all to show our commitment.

Over the last ten years, the world has made exciting progress towards ending neglected tropical diseases— 20 diseases and conditions that are a consequence and cause of poverty. These diseases disable, disfigure, and sometimes kill. While many neglected tropical diseases are preventable or treatable, much more work still needs to be done. The world must come together now.

Effect Hope believes in global health equity. We cannot achieve global health equity if the 1.7 billion (1 in 5 of us) people affected by neglected tropical diseases continue to experience debilitating illnesses that are preventable and treatable. That’s why Effect Hope has signed the Kigali Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases. Effect Hope will join nations and organizations around the world who are 100% committed to ending neglected tropical diseases.”
