In April, we proudly launched the HOPE Project in Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire—a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance the strength and sustainability of peer support groups (PSGs) for individuals affected by skin-related Neglected Tropical Diseases (skin-NTDs).
At Effect Hope, we believe that healing goes beyond medical care. For people living with skin-NTDs, peer support is a lifeline. These groups are a safe space where individuals can share experiences, encourage one another, and access practical guidance for managing their conditions. But more than that, PSGs play a vital role in reducing stigma, promoting social inclusion, and restoring dignity.
The HOPE Project is our response to a critical question: How do we ensure peer support systems thrive long-term?
Through this initiative, we’re working hand-in-hand with individuals affected by skin-NTDs, communities, local health providers, and policymakers to identify the key factors that make peer support groups sustainable and impactful. By understanding what works and why, we aim to scale best practices that not only support emotional wellbeing but also address broader needs—like livelihoods, healthcare access, and advocacy.
Our goal is simple yet profound: to build communities of hope, resilience, and empowerment—where no one faces stigma or isolation because of their health condition.
We couldn’t do this work without the dedication of our local partners—and the generosity of supporters like you.
Donate today to help us strengthen community-led care and build lasting change through the HOPE Project and beyond.
