At just 17, Kundan has already overcome more than most. While living with relatives in Delhi, India several years ago, he noticed a loss of sensation in his hand, which soon turned into painful nerve damage and a deformity. A neurologist referred him to a government hospital, where he was diagnosed with leprosy and successfully completed a treatment program.
Though his disease was cured, the damage to his hand remained. Determined to regain his strength, Kundan was referred to the Premananda Memorial Hospital, one of two hospitals in India that Effect Hope partners with. There, he underwent a complex but successful reconstructive hand surgery.
Today, Kundan is back on his feet—smiling, healing, and hopeful. His family is overjoyed with the care he received, and Kundan is looking forward to a future full of possibilities.
