Effect Hope is a Canadian Christian global health organization, and the largest in Canada exclusively focused on serving people affected by neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). We believe every person deserves good health, social well-being, and a life lived with dignity. That’s why we work to break down barriers to NTD services, ensuring everyone can access the care they need, no matter how remote or isolated they are.
We are committed to supporting people’s health and wellness, while honouring their independence and self-sufficiency. In 2025, Effect Hope worked in 8 countries to fight disease, disability and discrimination, strengthening health systems where care is hardest to access.

1,282,574 people were screened for skin-NTDs, helping identify disease earlier and connect more people to care before conditions worsen.
3,013 people received self-care training, equipping them to better manage symptoms, protect their health, and reduce the risk of complications.
1,374 surgeries helped people regain mobility, independence, and the ability to participate more fully in daily life.
123,064 people received medical treatment, helping reduce suffering and prevent long-term complications from neglected tropical diseases.
5,008 people were diagnosed with an NTD, creating a pathway to treatment, support, and earlier intervention.
3,817 health care professionals were trained, strengthening care closer to home across both formal and informal health systems.
5,773 people participated in community-based groups, helping build awareness, reduce stigma, and strengthen support within their communities.
3,579 pairs of customized footwear were provided to support mobility, protect vulnerable feet, and help prevent further complications.
4,665 people received added support through vocational training, counselling, and advocacy, helping them rebuild confidence, independence, and opportunity.
540 children received education support, helping protect their future and reduce the long-term impact of illness, disability, or stigma.
1,140 people accessed government grants and support, helping them claim resources they were often previously excluded from.
567 people received mental health counselling, helping strengthen resilience, restore confidence, and support healing beyond the physical effects of disease.
209 peer counsellors were trained in mental health support, expanding community-based care for people facing stigma, isolation, and emotional distress.
2 peer-reviewed research papers were published, helping generate evidence that can improve care and shape future responses to neglected tropical diseases.
2 presentations and workshops were led at global health conferences, helping share learning and influence how NTD care is strengthened globally.
105,719 people were reached through awareness and education campaigns, helping challenge stigma, build knowledge, and encourage earlier access to care.
201 senior government and policy stakeholders were engaged, helping build the leadership, commitment, and coordination needed for long-term systems change.
1.3 million Canadians were reached through advocacy and awareness campaigns, helping bring neglected tropical diseases and the realities of stigma into wider public view.
Effect Hope was recognized by Charity Intelligence Canada as one of its Top 10 Impact Charities and Top 10 International Impact Charities — reinforcing the credibility and measurable impact behind our work.
In Liberia, that same commitment helped raise over $100,000 to begin integrating Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) care into the national health system through the first strategy of its kind anywhere in the world. With more than 56 million women and girls worldwide estimated to be affected by FGS, this marks important progress on a deeply overlooked issue.
